Welcome to the Conscious Living blog! I'm so happy you are here, reading, sharing, and learning with me.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by thought that you need to completely change your lifestyle? Did you find yourself panicking after watching Lil Dicky's Earth video after all the laughing? Do you find yourself aimlessly scrolling through your feed thinking "wow! I love this person's lifestyle. They are KILLING it in sustainability, health, etc. Omg, I'm so far behind them. I'm too far gone. There's no hope."? Me. Freaking. Too.
Some days I think I'm really making a difference by my decisions to be more eco-aware (is that a word?) and then some days I wake up with the world's worst hangover and think I will never make it through the day without an XL Dunkin' iced tea, 18 bags of Cheez-itz, and 2 Snicker bars. And that's ok. It's more than ok.
You see, we all have been told time and time again that we are our own worst critic, yet we keep forgetting that the moment we slip up or make a mistake (be it the first time you've made that mistake or the 20th time). You made the same mistake. Did it kill you? No. Did it make you take a moment and dig a little deeper to think about why it happened? Yes. And that, my friend, that is progress. The moment you refer to something in the past as a mistake is the ACTUAL mistake. Setbacks only happen when you let them, so don't let them. Acknowledge it, accept it, and move forward.
I choose to say "move forward" because I'm not too fond of the phrase "move on", it seems so...sterile. "Move on from that ex! Move on from that job! Move on from that, something!" What if we took those "move on" moments and shifted them to a "move forward" moment instead? The only way to keep going is to grow. And that brings me full circle back to why I started this blog.
In order for our lives to keep going, we must keep growing. In order for the earth to keep going, it must keep growing. So, let's grow together. Let's make more conscious choices when it comes to our day-to-day lives. The little choices we make are what grow to be big, life altering changes in living.
It'll be messy along the way. It'll be frustrating, but it'll be worth it. We'll hit bumps, we'll find new ways for our old ways and together, we will make a difference in this world.
P.S. Stay tuned! I'll be hosting monthly challenges, posting about more sustainable choices to everyday items, featuring companies and individuals making a difference in our world, and more! This is just the beginning, CL fam! <3
