Why exactly does all of that mean?
For starters, the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) does not require companies to disclose the ingredients in menstrual hygiene products OR conduct testing that determine their products' long-term effects on women's bodies. THIS is a problem.
Many condoms sold in the U.S. contain harmful chemicals such as nitrosamines (carcinogenic chemicals), irritating fragrances, odor masking agents, flavors, and spermicides. Lubricants often contain ingredients such as propylene glycol (petrochemical), paraben preservatives (known to disrupt hormone function which is linked to an increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity), fragrances, and polyethylene glycol (yet another petrochemical). Tampons often contain ingredients such as rayon, polyester, fragrances, deodorants, glues, chlorine, MORE petrochemicals, alcohol, etc. The list goes on and on. For the most absorbent part of your body, there's an awful lot of bad stuff being used AT LEAST monthly, if not more.*

What is the Company Doing for Women + the World?
Female founder, Meika Hollender, knew there was something missing in the market for women's health, so with the help of her father, Jeffrey, founder of Seventh Generation, she created the first brand of all natural, vagina-related products. Meika released the book Get on Top: Of Your Pleasure, Sexuality, & Wellness: A Vagina Revolution in March 2018 giving women around the world access to knowledge never disclosed in your grade school sex ed classes.
Sustain has pledged to donate 10% of their pretax profits to women who currently lack access to reproductive healthcare. Did you know that's over 20 million women? That only 21% of single women use condoms? That 48% of pregnancies are unplanned? (sustainnatural.com) Sustain partners with non-profits in various ways to promote reproductive healthcare through 10%4WOMEN.
With articles such as "Why I'm Pledge to Help #StoptheBans", "What Causes Acne During Your Period?", "How Yoga Can Improve Your Sex Life", and bringing awareness to topics such as 35 out of 50 states still taxing tampons as "luxury" items, Sustain is bringing women's health to the forefront in ways it never has been before and creating a safe community for all women to learn and educate others.
